This page is built for your market. It shows how many oil and gas operators there are in the US, how big they are, and who signs off at each. It's yours to keep. Your own version, built around your company, comes after.
How big they are
| Group | Organizations in the US | Under 20 staff | 20 to 99 | 100 to 499 | 500 or more |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Oil and gas operators | about 4,200 | about 3,800 | about 270 | about 100 | about 76 |
Count of US employer firms in oil and gas extraction from the US Census Bureau's Statistics of US Businesses for 2022, rounded to two figures on purpose.
Who signs off, purchase by purchase
Titles vary from operator to operator, and who signs depends on what you sell.
| The purchase | Who usually signs | Who else has a say |
|---|---|---|
| Equipment, parts and field services | The operations manager for the field | Facilities or production engineers, procurement |
| Supplier standards at larger operators | A central engineering or supply chain group | The engineer who writes the standard |
| Back-office and finance work | Chief Financial Officer or VP of Finance | Director of IT, supply chain or procurement manager |
From buyer maps we have built for companies that sell to this market.
How the decision usually runs
In the field, the engineers who specify the work and the operations manager make the call, and procurement runs the quote. Larger operators often buy through a central engineering or supply chain group, so the engineer who writes the standard matters as much as the person at the site.
For back-office work, operations names the problem, finance approves the spend and IT checks the fit with the systems already in place.
What we do
- We run outreach by email and on LinkedIn to the buyers you should be talking to. On LinkedIn, it goes out from your own people's profiles.
- When someone says yes, the conversation goes straight to your reps.
- We can also build the system around them, with an AI assistant your reps can ask about any account, a priority list in each rep's inbox every morning and an app on their phone, all wired into your CRM. When we hand it over, your team owns it.
The next step
The next step is a 25-minute call with one of our team. We'll ask how new business reaches you today, what a deal is worth to you, and who would need to say yes. Then we'll show you where we'd start. If it's not a fit, we'll tell you. If it is, we'll book the next step before we hang up.
